What it does
When you leave a comment on a site running ReviewMySites, a picture of what you were looking at goes with it. In a browser, taking that picture normally means Chrome’s “share your screen” prompt — a permission tied to the page you granted it on, so it dies the moment you follow a link, and it leaves a sharing indicator on screen while it lasts.
This extension takes the picture from the tab itself instead. No prompt, no sharing indicator, and it keeps working as you move between pages.
It does nothing on its own. There is no capture button, no background activity and no recording of any kind — a picture is taken only at the moment you attach one to a comment.
Setting it up
- Install the extension from the Chrome Web Store.
- Click the puzzle icon in Chrome’s toolbar and pin RMS - Screenshots so you can see it.
- Click the extension’s icon and turn on Allow on all sites. Chrome will ask you to confirm.
- Reload any tab you already had open, then leave a comment as usual — the screenshot attaches itself.
Step 3 is the one that matters. Chrome will not let a website grant an extension access to itself, so the switch has to be thrown from the extension, and until it is the extension does nothing at all. Granting it once is what stops Chrome asking again on every new site you open.
If something isn’t working
The popup says “Reload this page”. What does that mean?
That tab was open before you installed the extension. Chrome does not add extensions to tabs that already exist, so reload the tab and it will connect.
Screenshots are not attaching. What should I check?
Click the extension’s icon and check that “Allow on all sites” is on. Without it Chrome refuses every capture. The permission is re-checked before each screenshot, so switching it back on takes effect immediately — no reload needed.
The popup says “Not on a review page”. Why?
ReviewMySites is not running on the page you are looking at. The switch still applies everywhere else — open a page with the review bar on it and the extension will pick it up.
Why does it ask for access to all sites?
Chrome’s tab capture API is available only to extensions holding broad host access; it cannot be scoped to a single site. The access is optional, is not granted when you install the extension, and the same switch revokes it.
How do I turn it off or remove it?
Turn the switch off to revoke site access while keeping the extension, or remove it entirely from chrome://extensions. Either takes effect at once.
Privacy
The extension collects, stores and transmits nothing of its own. It has no servers, no account and no analytics. It does not read, modify or transmit the content of any page, and it never captures a tab other than the one you are looking at. The image it produces is handed to the ReviewMySites page that asked for it, and the extension sends it nowhere itself.
