The review bar is how everyone, you and your clients alike, leaves feedback on the live site. Point at the thing, say what is wrong, send. Everything a developer needs to fix it goes along by itself.
Start the bar
Open any page of the site with ?rms on the end of the address (the link you were sent already has it). The bar appears in a corner of the page. If you are not signed in, it asks who you are first: a share link set to Commenter only needs a name and an email, an invitation asks you to sign in.
- Press Comment on the bar, or Alt + C (⌥ C on a Mac).
- Move the cursor over the page. Whatever it is over gets an outline: a button, a heading, an image.
- Click it. The comment box opens right there.
- Write what you want changed. Mention a teammate with
@, set a priority, attach files if they help. - Send. A numbered pin appears on the element, and the comment is on the board.
Press Esc to leave comment mode without saving anything.
What goes with every comment
| Detail | Why it matters |
|---|---|
| The exact element | The pin is attached to the element, not to a spot on the screen, so it stays put when the layout moves. |
| A screenshot | What you were looking at, at that moment. See Screenshots for how it is taken. |
| The page address | Comments are grouped by page, so /pricing feedback stays with /pricing. |
| Browser, OS and screen size | Most "it looks broken" reports depend on one of these. |
| Console and network (paid plans) | Errors and failed requests around the moment of the comment, for your team only. |
Pins on the page
Every open comment shows as a numbered pin where it was left. Click one to read it, see its screenshot, copy a link to it or open it on the board. Resolved comments leave the page so it stays readable.
If the element a pin was attached to is gone after a redesign, the pin moves to the nearest surviving parent and is marked as approximate. It never quietly lands on a different element. You can read why in How pins stay on the right element.
Check other screen sizes
On a computer, the Viewport control on the bar shows the page at Desktop, Tablet or Mobile width, so you can comment on the phone layout without picking up a phone. Each comment remembers the size it was left at.
On a phone
The bar works on phones too. The comment box opens full screen so the keyboard never covers it, and it has a Screenshot button: take a screenshot with your phone first, then attach it from your photos. A phone shows the comments left on phones; a link to one particular comment always opens it, whatever device it was left on.
